At the end of the 17th century, Emile Chouriet, like many other skilled craftsmen of his time, moved from France to Switzerland and made Geneva his home. The city, known as the "cradle of watchmaking" at the time, attracted large numbers of learned and skilled watchmakers.
Near the famous "Place de la Fusterie" in Geneva stood the small atelier founded by Emile Chouriet, where he dedicated himself to watchmaking research. And so the legend of the Emile Chouriet manufacture was born.
More than 300 years later, the church is still standing and the former atelier has become a historical symbol of the manufacture.
The 18th century, a golden age for the entire watch industry, witnessed the invention of the balance-spring, the application of zinc alloys, and new mathematical methods of calculation, which made the timekeeping instruments accurate. The technique of gem-setting on miniature instruments (clocks, movement components, etc.) developed at the time enhanced their value by making them more than a timekeeping tool: a luxurious accessory, and a breathtaking work of art!
Emile Chouriet was a gifted watchmaker known for his talent in decoration, particularly in enameling techniques. With great skill, he decorated enamel dials by adding intricate guillochage, gold leaf, pearls in various colors, and used groundbreaking applications of guilloché designs. Whether it is the choice of raw materials and setting of the gems, all the details are carefully selected to create the perfect watch.
The brand was officially named after master watchmaker Emile Chouriet in 1993 to pay tribute to traditional watchmaking artistry.
The "winged scepter" was also chosen as the official logo, highlighting its dedication to quality, and the prestige of its timepieces.
This concept has been widely incorporated into the design of all Emile Chouriet's watches. Its streamlined symmetrical lateral lines fluidly link the lugs to the case, with a curved outline in the middle and slightly flared ends.
In 1998, Emile Chouriet established MONTRES CHOURIET SA as its R&D and manufacture base in Meyrin, the heart of Genevan watchmaking, marking a new chapter in its ever-changing growth.
With Geneva as its R&D and production base, Emile Chouriet's official incorporation of Montres Chouriet SA started a new chapter in the development of the Emile Chouriet brand. Following years of development, the company has continued to expand, as its base has become a brand management center that integrates design, R&D, production, testing, and sales.
It boasts a group of highly trained and skilled senior watchmakers working with advanced watchmaking technology and adopts stringent quality control standards. This ensures the continuation of the traditional Swiss craft of watchmaking in Geneva, and the control and optimization of watch quality.
